Aww, come on Ducky, don't be like that. Finnish craftmanship does hold up quite well. I think ducky needs a nap.

Sako started chambering the L61R 25-06 in 1970. If you have one with a 5 digit SN it would be a pre Garcia and worth around 1K. If it is a Garcia import it will have a 6 digit SN. The deluxe rifles are worth around 30% more. These rifles are about as nice in the fit/finish/workmanship etc and shoot just as good if not better than the old ones. The primary difference is that the pre Garcia had a 3 lug bolt and the Garcia era rifles had a 2 lug bolt. Additionally, Sako didn't make alot of 25-06's which makes yours worth more than a say 270 or 30'06. Condition is everything....any modifications or missing items like the hood cover will adversly affect the price. Go on Guns America and look at the Sakos for sale.....this will give you a good idea of it's value. These old Sakos are going upin value as the collectors have snapped up the nice ones. Regards, Rick.
