ar-15 question
i have a .223 chamber for my ar-15. i have been told it would be a little risky to shoot 5.56 out of a .223 chamber due to the fact 5.56 is of a higher pressure load vs. the .223 load. that being said has anyone hunted with 5.56 and has anyone shot .223 out of a 5.56 chamber? if you have can you tell me if you noticed any accuracy differences say out to 200 m. i may buy a 5.56 upper but am not sure about it if it will throw my groups to hell at 200m. i currently shot blackhills 60 gr V-MAX blue box and love them. can't post this on AR-15.com cause they don't accept hotmail adresses. hope someone here knows what i'm talking about:eek:

Hey Jimmy,
I may have been the one who told you about the chamber problems. I'm an ar15.commember, and went ahead and posted your question. Here's the link... http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=16&t=263683&page=1 Good luck |

RE: ar-15 question
I have owned AR-15 rifles with both chambers. The 5.56 ammo in the .223 chamber will run a little higher pressure than it will in a 5.56 chamber, but it so far hasn't caused any pressure related problems. And the .223 ammo in a 5.56 chamber runs a little lower pressure, but the guns still have enough gas pressure to work. Seems to be a non-issue from a practical standpoint.
