RE: Replacement winchester barrel?
I guess some more info is needed----are you planning to rebarrel in .280 again, or are you planning to change calibers? If a caliber change is in store, the cartrige head size is important, due to the bolt in your gun. This is just one concern. Rebedding the stock will probably come into play also, due to the possibility of a different barrel diameter and contour.
As for barrel manufacturers, Shilen, Douglas, and Hart are a few of the better-known names. The services of a competent gunsmith are also needed, as headspace will need to be set, among other things. This stuff can get a little pricey, but it may be exactly what you're looking for. |
