My A-bolts are my fav gun(243wssm and 270wsm Medallion and a Hunter model.) They out shoot all my Rems Rugers and Weatherbys. I'll be hard pressed not to buy another rifle that is not a Browning. Ive had no probs.

I have owned a few browning rifles and shotguns with mixed feelings. My citori skeet gun is my favorite shotgun of all time, but I have no use for the a-bolt or bar magazine systems or the tang safety on the a-bolt.I personally believe that the a-bolt is overpriced.

I have owned a few Browning rifles as well, and have been happy with them. However, I would never purchase a rifle with the BOSS system. Additionally, it is kind of irritating switching back and forth from 60 and 90 degree bolt throws...

COelk-

what do you have agains the boss sytem?

I have two browning abolts one is a eurobolt in 243 w/boss and the other is a abolt stainless stalker in 338 RUM. They are both very accurate guns that have given me no problems what so ever. Kind of boring actually, nothing to tinker with. Just load them and shoot them. The 243 is one of the most accurate rifles I have ever shot. It regularly turns in sub inch, often sub 1/2, groups at 100 yards with 100gr sierra gameking SBT. It has killed 17 whitetails now from ranges of 80-280 yards with monotonus regularity.

The RUM is a recent addition to my gun safe but shows excellent promise. I have a really good load worked up for it shooting a 225gr Accubond @ 3140fps that will shoot 1" or slightly better consistantly. It kicks about like a standard 270 with a muzzle brake and limbsaver recoil pad. Its shaping up to be a great long range big game rifle.

I haven't had any problems with any browning products. I can't remember the last time I saw a browning rifle with a problem or even had any first time knowledge of a problem. Thats a pretty good track record as far as I'm concerned.

I love the A-bolts, love the gold, love the BAR, really dig the lever. But the gold used to be affordable, but now is way overpriced. The A-bolts are just right. Generally cheaper then a 700 or a mod 70, but I find to be much better quality even if some slant eyes put it together.

But I ain't payin no 750 dollars for a semi 12 gold. I paid 600 for my cantilever deer slug gold 3 years ago, now they are well over 850 dollars. Rediculus.

I think the Browning A-Bolt is one of the best bolt guns on the market. Sure, the magazine system isn't the greatest, but at least it isn't a blind magazine or a trapdoor type. The bolt is smooth as glass, triggers are awesome (and easily adjustable if you don't like the way they are set from the factory). I have a 7mm Rem Mag, and it shoots better than most varmint rifles.

There are plenty of Americans with "slant eyes" fighting for this country at this very moment giving you the right to say that.

I was also looking at the Browning Abolt. I like the looks of the stainless and black synthetic but i've never shot one.

Racial slurs aside, some Americans, including myself, find that the 'slant eyes' have better work ethic and pay closer attention to detail than the typical American Union Bubba. I can by a Japanese made rifle or shotgun without worryingabout the headspace is correct, or that the bolt might break off, the extractor mightbreak or be made out of pot metal instead of spring steelor , or that the gun will have constant jamming issues.

My Browning BuckMark .22 semi-auto is one of the most dpendable and consistently accurate handguns I own. Several of my friends own them also, and none of us has ever had a bit of trouble with them.

THey don't make the rums any more but if you look around you can still find them. Mine was made in 2002 but I just bought it last month.

I've got a .223 A-bolt I use all the time. It shoots and groups great, and has performed flawlessly every time I've taken it afield. In the last 48 hours, I've taken two hogs and a coyote with it, and it'll probably be the gun I take out tonight to try and get some more.

I own a BPS and it has been adequate for me. I'm not married to the company for their pump action shotguns, but will look at their over/unders next year when I am in the market.

Good I ain't talking about them, I am talking about land of the rising sun Japanese. Its kinda an ongoing joke we have when I go over to Japan for work. Don't worry, they call me pregnant, I have heard Godzilla. When we drink too much, they ask when I am expecting cause I have quite a tool shed building these days. I just don't believe in being PC. Its my way, and nobodies going to change it. We joke alot together and don't take it too seriously.

I used to refuse buying browning cause they were made in Japan, but wow, I picked up on used about 3 years ago, and was impressed. My grandfather would have rolled over if he knew I set foot on that island without a gun.

I agree, about work ethic over there and quality. But don't be fooled, some of my guys over there try to tell me they are working 15 hour days, when actually, they are counting the 4 hour two way train ride. Also, let me tell you another little secret. You will never ever find a more racist culture than the Japanese. If yourjapanese, youare ontop, americans a step below but they respect our engineering and medical school, and if you chinese, to them you on the bottom of the barrel, Korean forget it. You will find out that quick if you try to goout withone of thier daughters. I have worked with them for years and still can't figure them out.

Just was wondering where the unprovoked derogatory comment about a particular race came from. Itkinda jumped out at me when reading your post.
As for the Abolt. I handled one again last night. The action seemed very smoothe and it felt solid all around. Not really looking for any more guns this year but maybe for next years deer season

Thats the thing, not derogatory to me.Same as its not derogatory to me when our Japanese tech support makes fat jokes about me. We are just joking being guys. Nothingbut a thing. I think back and not sure why I put it. Just came to my mind. Maybe not appropiate and shot from the hip. But still, I ain't too worried about it.

I have a BPS and its the best shot gun I have ever owned. I have put it through hell and it hasnever failed.

I have yet to find a gun/load/choke combo that patterns better than it does, except for custom stuff from Nitro. (turkey hunting)

I have a Wad Wizard choke for buckshot and it still amazes me.

I own Remingtons, Brownings, Mossberg, NEF, and a few others, but the BPS is by far my first choice of shot gun. I want to buy a Browning rifle, but my Remington 700 hasn't let me down yet.

I own 3 brownings, 2 A-bolts and a over and under, can't say a bad thing about any of them. for those guys who think the mags are "complicated" on the A-bolts, they must be lazy and don't know quality!

If you cut thru all of the racial slur bs you-all will find that Brownings are nice firearms.
I purchased a Browning BPS in 1980 - it has not missed a beat. Same goes with the now 15 year old Citori Trap I bought 3 yrs ago. I have shot many 25's, and a couple 50's with that shotgun.
In 82' I watched my brother-in-law blow the head off a grouse at 50 yds with his Browning BAR in 7mm Rem Mag. Ever since, I have always wanted a BAR in 338 Win Mag, that would be one heck of an elk rifle.
During 82 a NAVY buddy bought a beautiful Browning bolt action in 30-06, with Rem Factory loads, it shot sub 1MOA groups.
Later on, another brother in-law bought a Browning bolt action in 25-06, same performance as above. He was so impressed he another Browning bolt action rifle in 7mm Rem Mag, same performance as above.
Come to think of it, several members of my gun club own brownings in 223, for at range target shooting.
I find it interesting that winchester had a dog-doo reputation do to crappy barrels.
As I recall it was not until Browning bought Wichester (or U.S. Repeating Arms) and began turning them out with high quality Japanese barrels that the reputation of the once great AMERICAN rifle company was restored.

Not lazy, but I do find it annoying to have to drop the floorplate, attach the magazine to the floorplate, then close the floorplate to load the rifle. With the remington or tikka systems you simply slide the magazine into the receiver. Why require three separate steps when everyone elses rifles can be loaded in a single step.

Guess anyone could guess from my ID which way I lean when it comes to Browning.lol... I own two: (1) A-bolt Micro hunter in 7mm-08 and (2) Citori Grade 1 12ga. I used to own a A-bolt Stalker in 7mm Mag and a Buckmark .22 and regret getting rid of each of them.
