Encore barrels

Swapped my older model encore for a new synthetic stainless w/thumbhole stock. I'm hooked now. Would like to start a collection of rifle barrells. Are the custom barrels (Bullberry etc.) worth the extra money?

RE: Encore barrels

THe B.Berryare supposed to be a ton more accurate then the TC barrels but they are a ton more $. In hunting situations the TC barrels I have are plenty accurate enough. I can get 1" groups at 100yrds using my reloads but I had to work the loads a little more then with most guns I have.
If you are wanting a caliber different then what TC makes. www.foxridgeoutfitters.com makes custom barrels with a ton more selection of calibers and lengths and cost about the same price as the TC barrels. I had a 18" 25-06 purchased from them that shot 1" groups at 100yrds.
IF you search\read posts here on the barrels youll notice some are pretty happy with the performance of the factory barrels and some had real bad luck withthem.

Those bullberrys are accurate. But what I am kinda learning is it has to do more with the forarm than most things.

chopper69,
its my belief that getting a factory barrel that shoots well is a roll of the dice..so your $250.00-300.00 into the hopes of getting a good one.
well i say no thx!i spend my money at "MGM"(http://www.matchgrademachine.com/. 4 weeks wait as well on a custom barrel an they shoot just as you would expect..
perfect!!..sospend the extra $50.00-$100.00 an get true quality.

I had a barrel made a few years backby Virgin Valley,a .240 Weatherby. That's the last one I'll have made for me! The cost wasn't worth it,I'm still trying to find a accurate reload for it...

pajack,
i'm sure there is a bad custom now an then but i bet if we took 100 factory barrels an 100 custom's an compared them. the number of junk factory barrels would far out weigh the modern day custom
