New Henry .22
 

I was looking at Henry .22 rifles today, and wondered how they shoot. Naturally, I don't expect target rifle accuracy from them, but I'd like to know from some who have purchased them or had experience with them what your opinions are. Good plinking gun, or good enough for squirrel hunting? Function,etc.? Thanks--------

I have the Henry .22 (I believe it's model H101?).
Mine is great fun for plinking and is plenty accurate
for small game hunting. I've put alot of rounds thru
it without a malfuncion. Very good deal in my opinion.

I had one and sold it, worst mistake I ever made. That little rifle was great. Mine was very accurate, one of the most accurate .22's I have owned. I sighted it in for 50 yards and it would shoot around 1/2 inch groups at that distance. I shot it from bench one day with a 16 power AO contender target scope at 100 yards while we were sighting in our ML's. It was about six inches low and I was getting pretty consistant 1-1.5 inch groups with winchester hollow points.

The only thing I didn't like was the plastic ring on the barrel and the trigger could have been better. The action was VERY smooth though and I never had a feed problem or failure to fire in the year or so I had it. It was probably just getting broke in when I sold it, about 400 rounds or so maybe 500. The guy I sold it to loves it and says I will never get it back even if I give him twice what he paid me for it ( I could get a new one for that;)).

Maybe I got lucky and got a good one? All I know is it was one of the best 22's I have owned, and it was only 189 bucks at wally world. They went up though, I just looked at them the other day.

I keep hearing lots of good things about Henry rifles and also Henry "after sale" service. Owners seem to like them very much.

Henry is offering steel parts to replace thoase plastic parts mentioned in the other post.
