steel chokes ?
Hi,
I'm just joining this message board , I have a situation concerning about steel choke . I have a mossberg 500 -turkey model 12ga. I want to know which steel shot, should I buy to have a great results for my duck hunts this year and in the future, too. I'm to the point , where I don't know what to buy since , I'm on a budget , and want to have a good choke, that'll do for long time, and uses all type steel shots, and all type of ranges, too. It would be greatly appreciated, to have some good feedback from my newfounded world here ... Thanks , Bulldawg1068 |
RE: steel chokes ?
USE ONLY TUBES MARKED WITH STEEL SHOT OK!!!! REMEMBER THIS THAT STEEL SHOT DOES NOT CONSTRICT LIKE LEAD, SO ALWAYS USE ONE CHOKE DOWN, EXAMPLE MOD WILL PATTERN AS FULL WITH STEEL SHOT, IC PATTERNS AS MOD, IF YOU TRY STEEL WITH A LEAD FULL CHOKE YOU RUN THE RISK OF SPLITTING THE TUBE IN THE BARREL.
SO WITH YOUR MOD CHOKE YOU MAY RUN ANY STEEL SHOT SIZE THRU IT, AND CAN EXPECT A FULL PATTERN. RON KONTOWSKY ACTIONS BY R.A.K. CUSTOM GUNSMITHING CUSTOM PISTOLSMITHING |
RE: steel chokes ?
R.A.K. is right about useing one choke down, as far as which steel shot to buy, you need to try several different brands, because they will all pattern differently through different guns. Once you find the ammo your gun likes best it will be worth the research. BTW welcome to the boards.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
