Rifle over shotgun!
Alright all you gun pros, need some info. Savage makes a model 24, O/U (rifle over shotgun). Didn't Stevens', Ithaca, or some other company make this type gun in the past? If so, do they still make them? There's a 1 1/2 inch t-bone steak riding on this and I'm hungry.
Thanks, dog1 |
RE: Rifle over shotgun!
Of course Krieghoff is the most famous maker but you are right. besides them, Savage and Winchester made O/u rifle shotguns. There are a few more I think Braser or something like that Imports one as well. They may have been others as well. It seem like Stoeger did too.

RE: Rifle over shotgun!
There were lots of them made in many different brands over the years. The Savage 2400 was made by Valmet (in Finland) who "beefed" up the frame ect. and brought the "new" gun's in as "Valmet 412's". Later Tika bought the whole project and called them 512's haveing them "then" made in Italy.
Remington is selling some Russian made models now, and there's many other's sold under different names. (includeing the Blazer mentioned above) Drilling Man |
RE: Rifle over shotgun!
yes Stevens did. My granfather had a .22lr over a 20 ga. It was pretty neat, when squirrel hunting you could take the first shot while they were standing still, and if you missed and they took off runnin, you could let em have a heathly dose of #7 1/2 shot :D

RE: Rifle over shotgun!
I had two. A 222/20 ga and a 30-30/20 or 12 Ga I don't remember for sure but the 30-30 barrel was a tack driver. Mine were Savage.

RE: Rifle over shotgun!
The origional post asked about "rifle over shotguns", but many of the guns mentioned above are actually "shotguns over rifles", like my Savage 2400 pictured below.

DM,
You're correct about my original post, and I should have cleared that up. I was talking in both configurations. Thanks for clarifying. And thanks for all the replies. I have printed the replies and now have a steak supper coming. Thanks, dog1 |
