Camo painting a gun

Have you done it? I'm thinking about a base coat of Krylon Fusion on the synthetic stock. Not sure about painting the barrel/scope/mounts. If I do, should they be painted seperately, then reassembled/sighted in, or left as is and painted as a unit?

I've painted a scope (flat black) before, and I'm not worried about harming it.

A lot of the time I will use the camo bow tape.Yhe soft cloth kind. It looks good and you can take it off and change patterns.Cleans up pretty easy with finger nail polish remover..Just a thought.

I think I'm just going to do the stock and forend. Just a little too nervous to paint the action and the barrel (of my NEF). I'm going to try the fusion paint as a base coat, then regular paint for the pattern. I have heard that the paint will wear off in time. Is there such a thing as non-gloss clear caot to slow down the wear?
