Federal Tru-ball Rifled slugs
 

does anyone know much about these slugs. federal claims that you'll get 2 in. groups at 50 yards with a fosters style slug and they're about the same price as regular rifled slugs. i haven't seen any in stores and was wondering if anyone on here had tried them. if they shoot as well as they claim they sounds like a pretty good product. any advice would be appreciated.

I used them for deer hunting this year. I shota big doe and it didn't go 40 yards, but good shot placement is the key for every kind of ammo out there.Tru-ball seem to group very well with my gun. I shot 5 of them at 50 yards and they are touching each other, so I would say they group very good. Just because my gun groups very well doesn't mean that your gun is going to group the same, I would shoot what ever brands of ammos your gun likes instead of shooting something that is New and fancyout there.I shoot both Federal and Winchester rifle slugs and I would say they are very accurrate with my gun.

that's definately a good idea to look and see what my gun shoots best. i've never used a shot gun much for anything other than turkeys and small animals. i've been taking it lately loaded with buckshot for deer. the place where i hunt isn't the least bit open but i thought it would be a good idea to have an option if a slightly longer shot presented itself.

In the "American Hunter" Nov. 05 issue the Federal Truball, 12 gauge Rifled Slugs were tested in a Remington 870 Smoothbore. A total of five, five-shot groupswere averaged at 50 yds., and 75 yds. At 50 yds. 1.8", and at 75 yds. 2.1". Good luck.

if i use any it'll be in my 870 but i only have a 21" barrel on it so that may have an affect on accuracy. hopefully not too much though. would you have that kind of a problem with a rifled slug since it isn't even in rifling??
