7mm- Rem Mag or WSM
In your opinion with all things being the same would you buy the old faithful 7mm Rem mag or the new 7mm SAUM or 7mm WSM?

RE: 7mm- Rem Mag or WSM
From what I have seen neither the 7mmsaum or the 7mmwsm are selling well.As a result neither might survive long so my choice would be the 7mmremmag.

I second that I'd get a 7mm rem Mag in 30 caliber though I would get the 300 WSM

I have the wsm and I love it. One of the flatest shooting guns I have ever shot. Bullets are expensive and hard to find. That is the only downfall.

7mm Rem Mag, WSM isn't much better at all if anyballistically and the 7mm WSM isn't very popular. Shells are more expensive and the recoil benefits claim only work if the guns are the same weight. A WSM is shorter and lighter (which is also a good thing though).

RE: 7mm- Rem Mag or WSM
I don't believe in re-inventing the wheel or caliber in this case. Stick with the 7mm Rem. Mag. and forget the ultra magnums or short magnums or whatever they are trying to sell. I really don't see a need for these, no matter what the caliber. It is just a slick marketing technique to invigorate some interest in something that really isn't all that different than the old favorites. These new caliber designations will never be as popular as the old, tried and true originals.
