I shoot 180 grain core-lokts out of my Tikka, because it really doesn't agree with any Winchesters

I'm loading either the 150 CoreLocs or 165 Sierra HP Gamekings. Both shoot well out of my 742 and both are very effective on the deer.

Around Mid-Mo Remington ammo gets a bad rap. I'm using core-lokts and everyone says "switch to power-points remington sucks." Whats up?

My Savage 110 likes the 180 grain remington corelokt. Cheap ammo, 1" groups and a very good bullet design.
BTW I spent 40 bucks on a box of high end Black hill ammo to try. I got 3" groups! I guess I am lucky that the cheap ammo works well. But the corelockt bullets are actually a very good bullet. Ask any old timer.

In my 700 BDL, factory Remington 165 grain CoreLokts work pretty well. I handload 165 grain CoreLokt bullets with 49.8 grains IMR4064, Remington cases and Federaql 210 primers and get great results - - ~1MOA, good performance on hogs.

Factory Remington 180 grain CoreLokts seem to work best in my 742. Handloading didn't really give me any particular advantage, but this gun isn't a target rifle anyway.

Strangely enough, neither of my rifles much cared for Winchester ammo in any bullet weight, or any handload or factory load with 150 grain bullets. I've tried Hornady, Sierra, Speer and Remington bullets in 150 and 165 grain, flat base and boat tails, and of all these I've gotten the best accuracy in flat based 165 grain Remington CoreLokt bullets. These are theleast expensive bullet that I have tried, too - - go figure!

165gr game kings work in my Sako. I've totally given up on the spastic performance of the SST's and Nosler BT's. Sometimes older is better.

For Elk, I would have to give a nod to the new bonded bullets, however, for deer, there just isn't enough expansion for me. No blood trail is bad news around these parts. A deer lying 60 yards away can take hours to find. Regards, Rick.

Fed Premium loaded with 180gr NPs. Has worked this year for deer and elk. I have been looking for the one load which would be suitable for both animals, and finally found a Lot # that my gun likes. Bought 9 boxes.
