It is unlikely that anyone will eversell aftermarket components for the 710 because most people that buy the 710 wouldn't pay for them anyways. The 710 is made for the person that wants the cheapest availableassembly of materialsthat will fire a cartridge when the trigger is pulled.

That would be me. :)

I don't know why you'd want to put a wood stock on a 710, either.

JagManMan, don't you mean the 597, not 592?? I got one of those too and the kids and I love to shoot it.

You guys sure are hard on the "ole" 710. Mine just keeps notching up deers when I pull the trigger. Not sure what else I would expect it to do.

then obviously you are happy with your purchase!! Others on here feel that a better design can be obtained for a little more money. I guess if it does what you want it to do then that is all that matters. glad you have a good reliable deer killer. :)

Oh, mossy33oak, believe me, I know there are those - quite a large number - who think the 710 should be bypassed for more expensive options, but I didn't find that one could spend "just a little more" to step up. The lowest priced 700 model was still another $100 more than the 710 and that's without a scope, so tack on another $50 minimum for a scope and I've got a rifle in the $500+ range.

I'm not adverse to spending money on a firearm as I've put out $600 for a semi-auto shotgun recently, but it's a matter of whether or not I'll get the use of a firearm to justify paying extra $$$ for one, especially when that extra money will buy benefits of little to no value to me.

I've had good luck with mine (camo stock in 270) so far. I have put over 700 rounds through it in th past year and it has held up fine. I am able to cycle it quickly and smoothly. I know there are better guns out there but I was not able to get a better price on any at the time.
Local gun dealer was selling it last year for under 300 with the scope

What Danny D???? You mean it didn't fall apart as some on here would have expected it to?? I hope mine still functions after 700+ rounds. That would be after about 20 years!!

When I buy a bolt action repeater,I expect to be able to cycle the bolt quicklywithout having to take the rifle from my shoulder. This was not possible with the two 710s that I have fired.

I hate to, but I gotta ask, stubblejumper: If quick follow-up shots are critical to your hunting needs, why would you not get a semi-auto. Normally after I shoot, I pull the gun down, look to see "what's happening" and then, if necessary, cycle the bolt and take another shot. Haven't encountered a situation where I need to rapid-fire my bolt gun - at least not yet.
