Ruger barrels have come a long way. Most of the newer mk II's will shoot very well. My old models don't seem to shoot like the newer ones.

I just picked up a ruger mk 11 in 7 mag from a friend that didn't like the recoil. It has a blue barrel with walnut stock($300 bucks) what a deal.Took it to the range after loading up some 140 gr core-locs and 120 gr BT and 120 gr sierras flat base.Did this thing shoot after zeroing @200 yds I shot some groups less than an inch @200 yds with the 140's and 120 Bt the flat base sierras came close to an inch but didn't get under.
Have a ruger mk11 in 50 caliber and wouldn't sell it period it really shoots.
Had a mk11 in 260 and it really would drive tacks but sold it to get a longer barrel rem.

I've got a mkII in .270. Will shoot 2 shots touching at 100yards, but will always push the 3rd shot out to a 1.5 to 2"" group.A 5 shot group may go 4".I assume from barrel heating? I shoot factory 150 grain core-locts. Bought it for deer hunting and not paper shooting so I've been pretty happy with it.

not an uncommon problem. Ive seen it happen occasionally with all 5 of my Rugers. I dont worry about though, with the 1 shot 1 kill philosophy it shouldnt matter!! :D

My Ruger is a 77 MKII all weather with the old style stock in 300 win mag. right out of the box it shot great, groupin about 3/4" at 100 yds. I just had to concentrate on the trigger pull.. LOL Now it has a Timney trigger and a Leupold VX-II and it is my go to gun... I have a decent collection, but this one always gets grabbed to go hunting!!!

Ruger has had a big problem with some of their MK77 mark 2 SS in the barrel area. They farmed out some and made a big mistake. I had one in 260 caliber and loved the rifle except that it just wouldn't shot consistant groups. Through one summer I tried factroy ammo in two different weights, 5 different powders, two different casesand 4 different bullets in reloading and never did get it to shoot right. I had an expert gunbulider check it out and he said it was perfect. I was going to send it back to Ruger when a man wanted to buy it.I told him up front about it and he said he liked a challenge. I would shoot anywhere from1.5 to 2.5 inch groups from the same loads. I once shot a 3 shot group of .875 and thaought I was on the way. Went home, loaded up some of the same and shot 2.5. Nice rifles and if you get one that will shoot a good group-great!
