rem 1100 barrel question

I have an older Remington 1100 with fixed choke barrel in mod. I would like to try trap shooting, and/or hunting turkey. I have found a couple of vent rib barrels for the 1100 in full choke. One is 30", & one is 28".
Is the full choke the best choice for trap, as well as turkey? Is there any real advantage between the lengths?
I use the mod barrel for skeet & dove hunting now.
Thanks for reading. Great message board here.

...Just a ole turkey hunter two cents worth, for turkey
hunting a full choke is a must, some may dispute this but
thats ok,it would be a great choice for trap shooting also
maybe just a little to much choke for trap, but it will be
good practice for wing shooting, just hold a good bead on the trap
shots you should be fine..good luck...1100 remington a fine auto shotgun..:)..

RE: rem 1100 barrel question

Thanks, totoe. My dad made me buy this gun from him (rather than give it to me, to make me appreciate it I suppose) at 16, about 20 years ago, when he upgraded to his 1187.
He is quite a good skeet shooter, but hasn't shot trap much. He suggested an IC choke for trap, but I thought for turkey a full choke was a must. Budget is tight, so I was hoping for a barrel that would fill both needs. Probably the emphasis would be on trap first, then on turkeys.
I'm pretty sure my mod barrel is too open for trap, huh? I also have a smooth bore with rifle sights. Maybe I should consider a remchoke barrel with interchable chokes & sell the other two barrels to pay for it?

Sp865 I use a mod choke all the time in my 1100 for trap . If I was you I would get a vent. rib barrel with a remchoke in it and then buy what chokes you need . You don't need a different barrel for each choke. I use a full choke for turkeys ,imp cylinder for quail ,mod for trap .

i like the longer barrel in keeping the shot closer in groups extending father out than normal. ui would say the fixed FULL would be what you are looking for. also i bet that fixed FULL barrel would be ideal with using 00 or 000 buck for deer.i know mine does alwsome out to 75yds using 00buck in a FULL barrel with a 30" barrel.
