Browning A-Bolt 25wssm

I was thinking about getting a new rifle for next year and got my mind set on the A-bolt in 25 wssm. I was wondering what kind and modelsof scope would bebestfor this caliber? also what do you think about this gun for whitetail? Has any of you own a A- bolt, if you have whatare the ups and down of this rifle?

I own a 25.06 an can say the 25 cal. can be an excellent deer round. The 25.06 is said to be over bored and the round of your choice hasarround the samepowder so make sure the barrrel is at least 24" but 26" would be better.
As for make of rifle I have a Ruger M77 which I am quite happy with but have no expierience your choice of rifle.

Good Luck

It should be a fine deer rifle. I too have a 25-06 in the Ruger with a 24 inch barrel. I can see no advantage of the WSSM over the 25-06 but if I didn't have a 25-06 and wanted a 25 caliber then I would look into owning one.

I am looking into buying that same gun in the Composite Stalker version. I have a Nikon 4.5-14x40 scope I am going to put on it. The only advantage of the 25wssm over the 25-06 is a shorter action and about 14% more efficient on powder (if you reload).

It would make a dandy deer gun/walking gun.
