I have a 7mm rem mag and its my favorite rifle round...its also my goto round just for target shooting. It dosnt have bad recoil and that's when fired from a gun w ith a butpad as hard as steel.

I have just one gripe about my 7mm rem mag. It's a Browning with 26 barrel and it feels just muzzle heavy enough to settle down just right. Shoots like a dream.
About the gripe. Get back to you on that. |

I remember my first beer. |
If I didn't handload, I'd go with the Remington.
I do handload, so I have more options. However, I would also look into how much brass I could acquire and at what price. If you need brass for the Weatherby, that's going to be a hefty up-front price. Stuff is so expensive these days. |
were head and radius shoulder above most others |

I cannot speak for 7mm, but i do have both 300 wby and 300 rum. There is not enough difference between the two, performance wise, to be concerned with. If i were you i would do as suggested, compare price of gun and ammo. I reload for both of mine so cost is not an issue. But if i had to buy ammo, the rum would win because of availability of ammo. It has been over 15 years since i bought ammo for either, so things might be different now.
