Cabela's scope

Are the Cabela's Alaskan Guide Compact scopes any good. I'm thinking of getting a 2x7 and putting it on a 450 Marlin in a H&R Ultra rifle.Just want some info on the scope. Zeak

RE: Cabela's scope

I have heard good things about them scopes but do not have a huge amt. of first hand experience on how they compare to every other manufacturer out there. But I have compared the Alaskan Guide Binoculars to every other binocular that Cabelas carries(many, many times) and they are the best pair of binoculars for the money. And I'm not just saying that because I work for Cabelas. The guides series binoc, compare IMO just as good as the Swarovski's, Leica's, Ziess, Steier, etc. I can't tell any difference and I have tested them many times. They collect a lot of light from the glass coatings and high quality glass. I'm not sure who makes the guide series for Cabelas, they won't even tell us. But if I had to guess, it'd be Leupold. They have a lot of similiar characteristics. But I'd put any Alaskan Guide Series optic up to a Luepold optic anyday, and Luepold optics, especially scopes, are great themselves. Just my 2 cents, Good luck.

Cabela's, from my experience, carry quality products. The scope you are speaking of gets good reviews from those using it. The big issue here is the fact that Cabela's stands behind what they sell! Can't go wrong with that!

RE: Cabela's scope

I love Cabela's, it's like Christmas everytime I look through the catalog. However, I just read a recent review on optics in one of my hunting mags and they rated the Cabelas scope as very low, even though they had high hopes for it.

Anyone else see that article?

For just a little more money you can get a good Nikon or Leopold. Eithe of these you will be happy with the rest of your life.

I have been happy with Cabelas until I looked at their Pine Ridge Scope. It's very low quality and it's made in China.
