H&R SINGLE SHOT SLUG GUNS????

ANYONE KNOW MUCH ABOUT THESE SLUG GUNS? I HEARD FROM SEVERAL CO-WORKERS THAT THEY ARE REAL TACK DRIVERS.

We have two in the house. Mine is 12 gauge Deluxe and Hoss1's is a regular 20 gauge. I shoot either 2-3/4" Brenekke Heavy Field Magnums or 3" Gold Magnums. Hoss shoots Remington 3" Copper Solids or Brenekke 3" magnums.

Yes, very accurate slug guns.

They are in fact excellent guns, and are very accurate. Their downfall is that use a bull barrel in order to achieve their accuracy. This means that they are very heavy especially considering the fact they are single shots. I would recomend them if you spend most of your time in a fixed location, but not if you do much stalking.

I believe the number one reason for their popularity is that they are relatively cheap compared to other options. If you are willing to spend a few more dollars the Savage 210 would be another great alternative. Let us know what specifically you are looking for and we could tailor a recomendation for you

If you don't want a scope you can get a non heavy barrel version with a fully rifled barrel, but much lighter. There are even some that have had gunsmiths install scope mounts on them.

However they are much lighter and the recoil is more severe.

Also the Ultra's come with a weight in the stock that can be removed to make them lighter.

Like JCC said, tell us what you really want to do with it. Like hunting from a stand or blind, or doing drives. Or if you plan on hiking a lot with it. If you were going to do a lot of walking with it the full ultra deluxe models with a scope are pretty weighty, like 10 or 11 lbs. They handle recoil great though.

I would actually suggest a 20 guage over 12 with these shotguns. They weigh a bit less, have more options for swapping barrels and from what I understand they tend to be bit more accurate.
