Hey guys,

I ended up buying a Ruger Mark II in 300 WM with a lamenate stock. Do or should I just go ahead and have the barrel floated? Either way how much does having the barrel floated cost?

Also I have heard that the trigger on these guns are terrible. What should I do about that?

have you tried to run a piece of paper down between the stock and the barrel. you may be surprized to find out that it is already floated. more and more guns are coming from the factory with the barrels floated. mylast remingtonwas and so were both of the last two savages that i bought. :)

Having the barrel floated and the action bedded will run you from about $60-$80 depending on your neck of the woods. A trigger job should run between $25-$40 again depending where you are located. Floating the barrel should make your rifles point of impact more consistent than if it isn't floated. Although, some rifles shoot better groups without having the barrel floated. If you take the gun to the range and it performs well you may want to just leave it alone. However, on the Ruger I would certainly have a trigger job leaving the pull weight at 2.5-3 lbs. Since the rifle wears a laminated stock it should remain stable and not make your zero wander around like a solid wood stock will sometimes.

The rifle is being shipped so I haven't had a chance to handle it yet. However I called Ruger and they claimed that it is not floated. I guess I will check it first.

Does anyone know the cost to have it floated?

What should I do about the trigger?

I would have the trigger done. I get my rifles set at 3lbs.This also will make for a smooth pull. I would then go to the range and see how accurateit is.

If I am going to have the trigger done should I have the current one modified or have it changed to an after market trigger?

What are the names of the good after market triggers and how much do they cost?
