New Used Rifle

I just got a new used rifle my dad just bought for me. It is a Remington 308 Model 788. Im shooting 180 grain bullets. It is and older gun from the late 70's early 80's. The barrel is in mint condition and the stock has a few knicks on it here and there. i don't care about them. it has a tasco fixed 4x32 or 9x32 (can't remember right now) and it is all metal so i know it is an older scope and it is made good.but it is a sweet gun. well, we just went to shoot it on saturday and i couldnt of gotten a better rifle for
300$. we took 2 shots and we had the perpendicular lines on the target and it was dead on the vertical line but an inch 1/2 low. so we moved it up 12 clicks on the scope and it was dead center on the crosshairs of the target at 55 yards. so we then took it and raised it up a few more clicks so it was on at 100yds and once again at 100 yards we had a group within a 1 inch circle.

The model 788 has always been famous for being a shooter. They were inexpensive,But they would shoot with the best of them.Hang on to that one.

To Kyle---- Don't know if you're planning on reloading for that .308 or not, but it is definitely one of the more inherently accuratecalibers out there. Lots of potential in it,and I'm sure you will enjoy it for many years. Just remember to keep the barrel cleaned and stored in a nice dry place.

yeah, i duoubt i will do any reloading with the shells. i give them to a friend of the family and he reloads them or uses them for the metal. i don't think i will ever sell the gun either. it shoots so nicely
