win 70
I was just wondering what ya'll think about the winchester mod. 70 push feed actions. I have 30-06 in one I bought a few years ago and it's suited me fine so far but I haven't really worked it real hard or anything. How do they rate compared to the Remington 700 (which I have one in 7mm-08) as far as quality is concerned. Also, when did Winchester start producing their classic model's again? Thanks for the info

RE: win 70
what's the difference between the controlled round feed and the controlled round push feed?

RE: win 70
Controlled round feed and push feed are two different ways of feeding from the magazine. The mauser style actions actually have a claw that seizes the round and holds it while it is fed into the chamber. With a push feed action the bolt pushes the round out of the magazine and into the chamber. There have been countless arguements over which is best but it really makes little difference as both can work very well.

The control feed can cycle the action upside down for those times when you are hunting ninja style.

i'm sorry, i should have stated my question differently what's the difference between the push-feed and the control round push feed????
Winchester is currently making rifles on three different actions, the push-feed, and controled round push-feed, and the controled round feed Classic |

Since the CRPF question has been answered, here's my take on M70 history: while the overall quality of the M70MIGHT have went down for a while in 1964. I think that too big a deal was made over going from the claw to the push feeds!
For one thing, the push feeds work great! There is no real need for a claw extractor, except where dangerous game is envolved! Secondly, the Remington NEVER had a claw, so what was so big of a deal when Winchester dropped theirs!!!! |
