Guns in school zone law
I just read somewhere that it is against federal law to knowingly possess firearms in a school zone. Does anyone know about this law and its wording?Does anyone have any further info on this?

Ask your local law enforcement or DEC people. They will know the regulations. Sounds like a local or state ordinance to me.

RE: Guns in school zone law
That's what I was thinking as well. Like in MI, just because you have a concealed carry permit does not mean you can carry it anytime and everywhere. Most government facilities, schools, churches, larg public places or any place that serves spirits will not let you posses a weapon. Some will not even allow them on the property so you can't just lock it in your trunk.
And like said above, many state, county, and city laws differ. It pays to know them ahead of time. Most have to do with handguns though, but some effect rifles as well. Some even apply to bows, knives and martial arts weapons. Where I live a bow is considered a firearm. Paul |

Funny this topic came up. The other day I hunted in afternoon and then went to daughters volley ball game(at her school).I put shotgun and shells in the bed tool box.Probably still illegal as hell.
In states pushing 500K - 1 MIL hunters it would be hard for Dad not to get caught at some point with gun in vehicle on school property. |

God forbid them to outlaw cars in a school zone! They kill more "children" then guns!!! The poor children would be a lot safer if they walked to school in a car free zone, but then they would have to walk more than 50' to school. Its only logical isn,t it/ vangunsmith

Depends on the state in which you live.
Go to packing.org and you can pull up the regulations for your state. For instance.... Here in Alabama it is illegal to posess a deadly weapon on the premises of a public school or school bus. In Colorado you may be in posession of a firearm while on developed school property while in a vehicle so long as the firearm remains in the vehicle but if you leave the vehicle you must place it in a closed compartment and lock the vehicle. A person may carry concealed on undeveloped school property that is used for hunting or other shooting purposes. |
RE: Guns in school zone law
i know around here, you are allowed to have guns on school property, as long as it stays in your car, and doesnt come out, and nobody sees it. none are allowed in the schools, even with a concealed weapons permit. only people allowed w/ guns inside are cops, wildlife law enforcers, ect.
