Another gun problem

I'm at a point where I need to buy a new rifle (sad isn't it) because with three boys and only two rifles something has to give. So my plans are to swap the barrel on my .270 to a longer one (current one is 18" and IMO is not a pleasant gun to shoot at the range) with a muzzel brake so with my .257 roberts that takes care of two kids. My oldest is 18 and by the time my youngest (5 year old)is able to hunt my oldestshould be able to buy is own gun (and if not he'll have a Happy 25th birhtday). So for me I was thinking about buying a 30.06 imp, I would use this for whitetails, black bear and any hunting trips- Moose, Elk, Sheep etc. and I have the means to consider a custom rifle. Guys that I hunt with have Borden rifles and they highly recommend him. I will say he makes an impressive shooting rifle. Any thoughts on the 30.06 imp.? Borden? What length barrel for the .270? Thanks.

It was found out many years ago, that the most accurate barrel lenght for the standard 270 win is 22". vangunsmith
