Smith And Wesson Sigma

I jsut picked up one of these in 9mm about 10 days ago. I've already put 300 rounds through it and have had no problems. Is anyone else a fan of this series of handgun.

I think this is the new design. I have not seen one in person or shot one for that matter, but i have heard good things about it.

Abuddy was issued one in .40 cal for His job as a police officer. They ended up trading them in for Glock 22s but he purchased his back from the dealer that took it in on trade. He likes the Sigma better and feels he is more accurate with it then the Glock. Now don't be confused he hasn't said the Sigma is more accurate only that he shoots it better.

I know the older Sigma's used to have a firing pin problem. I know of one officer that carried one with a broken firing pin for about a month before he discovered it had broken. I don't know if they have fixed that problem or not.

Congrats IL Hunter on the acquisition. Hope it continues to work great for you in the future. I've heard decent things about the 9mm Sigma, although I owned the Sigma .380 back in the late 90's and it was the most worthless POS pistol I've ever owned. Best of luck with yours.

I definitely heard back things about the original design. They have updated a lot of things on them, and I hope that it continues to please me. Mine is a post assault weapon ban model, so it also holds 16 rounds in the magazine.

As for being a police officer with a broken firing pin that would not be a situation I would care to be in.

Can't say I'm a fan. Purchased one in 9mm, couldn't hit anything with it, by anything I meanan 18x18 inch target at 15 yards - put 250 rounds through it. Wasn't just me, had several people try it, just wasn't accurate. Also didn't like the sloppy trigger feel but the price was great.

Took it back and got a Springfield XD in .40SW. Like it a lot - very accurate but spent $100 more.

I'm still working on my accuracy. I'm not a great shot with a pistol as of yet, but I have had better luck thus far than you seemed to have. Some people really seem to like these guns and others really don't.
