I found the trigger to be a little stiff(4.5 lbs) but it breaks clean and has no creap at all.The stock is a little flimsy but it is pillar beded. The barrel is free floated, and has a nice balance.

Do they make replacement stocks for the Stevens guns? With that kind of accuracy I'm already interested in one.

I got a savage 111 in 30.06. I shot a 3 shot, shot group at 100 yds off of sandbags and was able to keep a group of less than 1/2 inch all in the x ring. I was shooting remington psp 180gr. I got the gun used for $200 out the door and I agree, it looks pretty cheap with the synthetic stock but that F***er will drive tacks!!!! Id buy another one in a heart beat. My first savage, and I reccomend it to anyone.

My 110 in .243 is also a tack driver and I would recommend Savage rifles to anyone.

RE: You guys are missing a real sleeper!!!!

I've got a Savage 111 .270 and I was kind of disappointed using factory loads. I couldn't get anything to shoot under 1" groups, Rem CoreLokt 130gn psp were the best though. I tried different scopes and rings with no help. Finally I started reloading and the first couple loads did a little better, around 1". I wasn't happy so I gave it a good cleaning and went at it with JB bore paste. I also sanded the barrel channel in the stock as it was slightly touching the barrel near the barrel nut. I'm not sure what it was but the last group I fired at the max load was .563" for 5 shots. I couldn't be happier!!! It's almost as good as my Savage 12BVSS .223. At least I know its a real shooter now. :D

use to brag about savage until they !@#$ed me with a M16 300wsm... 1.56" groups from a rock steady rest... Sent it back to savage to make it right and they sent it back with a 5 shot group of 1.56" and said theres nothing wrong with it. I sold it and bought a Rem...

Will never buy another Savage!!!!! "You get what you pay for"

Not to be an a$$ but the guy next to me was shooting a Sako, well over 2x's what I have into mine, and well over 2x's the group size. I guess some people get what they pay for, others not.

And if the Rem had averaged 3 inch groups, they would have returned it to you and said there was nothing wrong with it. Frankly, getting 1.5" groups out of a production economy priced rifle is not being !@#$ed. I would call it reasonable. Getting sub moa groups (which actually is quite common with Savage rifles) with an economy standard production rifle is called exceptional. At least in my opinion...

I've got a model11 in 223 anda a 116 in 7mm and both shoot excellent(although the 7mm is a lot louder than I like). The only load I tried in the Stevens was Remington managed recoil and I was very happy with them.I didn't measure the group but they were somewere in the inch range give or take.
