I have a ruger 77 all weather in 30-06 and a browning abolt micro medallion in 7mm 08. The ruger just feels right and it even shoots a little better than the browning.

I would take the Ruger or Remington over anything Winchester is making lately.

I had the same problem deciding this year...

I went with the Ruger .270in walnut. It just felt right in my hands and felt like I could shoot it well immediately. I went to the range and for a hunting rifle right out of the box it shot well, stock trigger and all. I put 10 shots in a 3 inch group. Granted this is nothing to brag about when target shooting. But it will kill a deer every time.

The Rugers come with scope rings.

the ruger is most accurate and the winchester action will never give you problems. I don't know much about remingtons.

If you're not too hung up on 'made in USA' labels, take a look at CZ 550s. They are better rifles than the other 3 in my opinion.

The Ruger 77 MarkII would be my first choice. The only thing I would change would be the caliber. The 7mm/.284 caliber offers a greater selection in bullet weights than the .270. If you reload the sevens is the way to go.As for the trigger any competant smith can smooth them up for a nominal charge. Forget the Timney it's overpriced and requires some fitting, the only plus to the Timneyit has an adjustable sear engagement.

I have heard that Remingtons are having quality problems these days and I have found that to be true. I bought a 700 BDL this summer and I could barely chamber a round with it. (Big time extractor problems; didn't want to go over the rim.) It should have never left the factory. It is also not as accurate as the older models.

But I would consider an older used Remington.

Howdy Butch, Personally I like Winchesters and I always have.But you already made up your mind for yourself....LOL.The one that feels best!Each gun will have it's own little quirks.Trigger,safety,bedding issues,etc.These things are easily taken care of. Go with the Ruger.You seem to be into the 1 of mode.Build the 77 the way you want itthen you know what you have and it will be with you from now on.
