House Fire

I had a house fire a while back and lost everything but my guns, they were the first thing the firefighters grabbed. I have cleaned them probably 5-6 times and they still stink a little. Is there anything that I could put on them to make thesmell go away???

Just a smokey smell? Any water damage? Man I hate to hear that. Hope you and your family recover good over it.

I have had good luck by placing items in the sun for extended periods. Albeit never a gun. But dry sunlight and air work wonders.
Good luck

Its mainly a smoke smell. I got all the sut off ofthem and they look decent but the smell is the only thing that bothers me. I'll try puttin them outside after the weather gets better.

Wehave our house built back and were moved back in. The fire was on Nov. 9th last year but I just now thought about putting a post on here for help.

have you tried a tub of baking soda in the gun cabinet. i used some cleaning oil one time on my mini 14 and it smelled terrible. the soda removed the smell in a couple of weeks. now i just leave a tub in the cabinet all the time to reduce the smell of the oils on all the guns. :)
