RE: Browning A-Bolt or Winchester Model 70
Having owned both I prefer the Browning rifles. I like the features of the Browning better....tang safety, 60* bolt throw, detatchable magazine, lighter weight. I personally dispise the 3 position safety....it's loud, unnecessary and easy to bump off when hutning thick stuff.90* bolt throw is alright, but I don't like jamming my fingers in a fast second shot situation. Both are accurate rifles in my experience and either will kill game just as easily. I just simply like what Browning offers for the reasons listed above.

The WSSM are not nearly as popular as the WSM so dont buy based on a percieved popularity. I think the 2 rifles are pretty even overall I would buy American and and save $100.00+ dollars andget the Winchester.

I hear a lot of people saying the "new" WSMs and WSSMs are a hype and will never be as popular as the cartridge they're derived from. What do you all think?

I'd go for the Winchester Model 70. It's classic and has been around for years. I have read a lot of excellent reviews on it.
Here's what I want (see below).... But the blatant discrimination on us lefties gets me a little peeved. I mean why is this rifle about $200-250 bucks MORE than a normal righty version?!?

I recently bought my wife a Browning A-Bolt Micro Hunter with 20" barrel(available in .243 Win; 7-08; .308 Win)....it's a great shooterwith good balance. I've got several nice rifles but whenever I pick up her gun,it just says "put me to your shoulder and shoot"...I can't touch it without shouldering it...and for icing it's a good looking and proportioned gun as well.
If she wasn't left-handed, I'd be finding a reason I needed to hunt with it....as it is, I'm going tohave to go get another one for me!!!
Picked hers up for $599 at a major sporting goods store...
