i bought my wife one in 260rem, when i went looking, i was after a 7mm-08, however a friend had this gun s/s and at a decent price:D, and i know he takes care of everything he owns. i love the little 260 and my "bigger guns" don't see near the time afield they used to, the little model 7 is a dream to carry, pleasent to shoot even in the 308, reasonably accurate, i would buy another one in a minute, they are great in a tree stand, about the only time i dont take it is if the wife wants to hunt, or i'm hunting a big corn/bean field

I had a Model 7 LS, in .308. I loved it. Great rifle.....and the only one I regret not having now. Mine would do 3/4" groups, with the right ammunition. They are great hunting rifles - but, the barrel is thin, so it heats up quickly. So, if you also intend to do a lot of shooting at the range....the Model 7 would not be the best choice. For hunting, however, especially when long-distance carry is part of the program....I'd highly recommend the Model 7. For that matter, when sitting in a tree stand for long periods, holding a rifle.... the 7 would be great for that, as well.

I think I would like to have a 260 or 7mm-08 in that rifle. The model 7's are awsome to carry around. I had a chance to buy one used w/ a leupold scope in 6mm e few years ago and passed, regretted it since.

I picked up a used 7 in a .260, had a trigger job and had been ported, damn loud but I love the gun. My 2 boys 7 and 11 each shot thier first Deer and pigs with it. I got rid of the crap scope it had and put a VX-II 3-9 x40 and couldn't be happier.

My first rifle was a model 7 in .308, I still have it 20yrs later. Its a great gun, I still use it on occasion and would never sell it.
