.405 Winchester
Does anybody know if the reproduction Model 1895 .405 Winchester is still available and how to go about getting one??(It was supposed to be out late 2001) I wrote to Winchester, but got no real answer, just refered me to some websites, but led nowhere.

RE: .405 Winchester
They told me they would be very limited(both grades) and I would have to do my best to find one.
Gun companies really pi** me off they advertise something and you can't get. It took me seven months to get a Marlin 1895 Cowboy 45-70. Marlin acted like they didn't care if I got one or not. They were going to make so many no matter what the demand. |
RE: .405 Winchester
The latest issue of "American Rifleman" magazine's front cover and story feature the Winchester .405. It was T. Roosevelt's favorite African rifle.
What an awesome gun. BUT...if Winchester is only making a limited production run, than COUNT ME OUT!!!!! After so many years later, when the gun is no longer in production, is ammo going to be available??? How much will ammo cost for that round in the first place???? I'd rather stick to a round that's just as effective and plentiful. There are probably a dozen or so around. Much cheaper to boot too! |
RE: .405 Winchester
Thanks, just what I thought, the gun companies don't care if you buy one or not. I've got an 1895 .405 Win. made in 1904 in exellent shape. Just thought I would be nice to have the "repro" to hunt with and keep my original out of the weather.
