Savage 99 accuracy problems
I came into a Savage 99 in 308 Win. The bore is good and I know the scope is good, but the thing is shooting all over the place. First I thought it was me so I had someone else shoot it with the same result. I have tried several factory loads as well as handloads with the same result. Anyone know of any tricks to tweak a 99? I was thinking about bedding the forearm, or perhaps adding a pressure point at the tip.

there's pressure on the barrel caused by warpage from the wood in the foreend. Remove the wood and see by hand how tight it is on the gun. If it's tight relieve the place it's binding. These rifles are normally extremely accurate.... |
