sights

i recently tool out my winchester30-30 with the stock open sights on it out at dusk. I have to say it has quite hard to shoot with the low light. If i were to paint the front ramp would that help.
can you put a red dot a sight on a rifle?? If so how effective would that be? i would get a peep light but i can't find any for a winchester 94 AE. how expensive/ effective and the tang mounted peep sights?

RE: sights

redsox,

Try this site that found for 30-30 peep sights that are tang mounted. It might help....

On a Win94, you can mount a scope but it has to be angle eject, or if not, then the scope has to be mounted offset. I'm not sure if a reddot scope would work though... Most people have a low power 4X scope or an even lower 1-4X scope.

Then again, there are lever action purists out there who absolutely refuse to have a scope on a 30-30! I readsomewhere where a guy wrote in saying something like, "a scope on a 30-30 is like putting combat boots on a ballerina! It can be done, but it doesn't look right". ;)

I like the 4X scope I have on my Marlin 30-30. It gives me great accuracy out to 100 yards, heck maybe even 150 yards.
