Gundigest, is your gun drilled and tapped? Or are you planning on getting the cantilever barrel?

The SBE II slug barrel is drilled and taped, I don't know if the bird barrel is.

I believe what you are refering to is the cantilever barrel. (meaning there is a scope mount directly attached to the barrel.)
That is always the prefered method of attaching a scope to a barrel when the barrel is not rigidly fixed to the receiver.
That should give you pretty good accuracy...

On the SBE II the top of the reciver is part of the barrel. It is not a cantilever barrel. Click on the picture on the benelli link http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/accessories-barrels.tpl It is drilled and tapped for scope mounts though. The scope stays with the barrel so it works under the same principle as a cantilever.

no problem, its not a common design, I can see why you thought I was talking about a cantilever barrel.
