Simmons 4x4 scope rings any good?
My father just bought a 4x12 simmons atv scope at wall world (clearance- $45.00)and it came with a set of Simmons 4x4 1" Medium rings.
He's putting the scopeon a H & R handy rifle in .308.
Has anyone ever used these rings?
Are they any good or would he be better off going with the Leoupold rifleman rings?

RE: Simmons 4x4 scope rings any good?
As an advertizing inducement, scope companies (some) send rings with there scopes. Some rings are suitable for what they are suppose to do,and some are not.Simmons is a big outfit, and they wouldn,t send rings that they didn,t feel would work with most calibers. I,ve found that only when shooting a real big caliber, does one need the higher priced rings. Those should do you fine, and you didn,t have to pay for them.So use them, andi think they should be alright. vangunsmith

Turns out they were really weaver quad locks. They say weaver on the side and the instructions say all of simmons rings and bases are made for them by weaver.
They wouldn't work on his rifle, too low. But low and behold they just barely worked on my Striker. It was hard to pass up free, so I will see how they do.
