RE: mausers
I would ask someone on one of the forums at milsurpshooter.net . If you have any inkling to the origin of your rifle, someone there will be able to help you.

RE: mausers
I'm no expert, but I have 7 or 8 Mausers myself so I'll try and help. Are there any markings on the receiver? If you could provide pictures it would help as well.

RE: mausers
See if your local library can find you a copy of Ludwig Olsen's book on Mausers!!

RE: mausers
The library may not be such a good place to go. I have tried just about every library in the NY metro area and anything to do with firearms seems to be taboo, The NRA put out a publication a few years back titled Military weapons of the world. Another place to try might be a barnes and noble or borders and see if they have a copy of the Janes that covers firearms and armaments.
