Nosler Partitions on Deer?

For the past couple of years I have been using Core-Lokt 150 PSP's out of my .308 for hunting deer. I haven't had any problems with them on deer, but whenever I recover them form newspaper or sand they have always framented apart. I am concerned that they may do it in a deer and I was looking at other bullet options. This summer I was working with the 180 Partitions to use for black bears this fall and I like they way they shoot. I know that they are made for deeper penetration, so I wasn't sure if they would be acceptable for deer hunting. I wonder if they will expand fast enough to take a deer.
Has anybody used these bullets to take deer? Will they expand enough? Any insight you guys can provide will be greatly appreciated.

.308,if you have had good success with 150 cor-lokts, why change?
I have always used Fed.150 NP, but if they would have failed, I would
have changed.

I have seen and heard stories of partitions not causing very much damage to deer. Especially small deer. After seeing it a few times, I decided to keep partitions for my moose and elk, which i can attest to works great on moose.

I love gamekings and bullistic tips on deer. I know they are going to expand. I know its going to cause aweful damage.

I believe Mossyoak33 on here shot a deer with partitions with a 25-06 and it ran well over 100 yards and after skinning, didn't do much damage. Went right between ribs and never hit anything solid.

Just an opinion.

If it works why fix it!! Any bullet will fragment some, and so what if you loose a little meat! you will anyway, and a 180 gr bullet is a llittle big for deer and most of the time will pass right throught it like a FMJ bullet. No bullet retains all it weight anyway. So stay with the 150 gr. bullets if i were you. vangunsmith

Why even use a partition or core-lokt on thin skin animals like deer or even black bear? I don't understand that... Pointed soft points work in every situation on deer and black bear with a .308. 150-170 grain soft point and shoot. Friends of mine shot controled expansion bullets for years at North Dakota Whitetail. We got tired of blood trailing deer. The bullets tended to enter and exit without causing the damage a soft point would. They finally quit wasting there money on expensive ammo and started dropping deer where they stood.

Pipe. most of us on here would use a premium to make them fly better for accuracy as this is a guns page and not hunting page. We tend to bend towards performance and killing power.

What bullet are you referring too?? Its hard to go any lower than a corelok. 9 dollars/100

Sounds like you guys think the NPs won't expand enough. What about Winchesters Ballistic Silvertip? Will they do the trick?

Don't let anyone kid you....the Nosler partition has worked well on deer for a very long time.....all that's being said is that it's not necessary. Any hunting grade bullet is fine for deer.

This was the question I was giving MY opinion

"We tend to bend towards performance and killing power."

I think that is exactly what my opinion was about.

The Question was Will the Nosler Expand Rapidly Enough and be effective for deer. My Opinion Is NO...

What Is Wrong With That
