30-06 is ideal for even large north american game up to and beyond 300 yards which is what I limit my shots to anyway. Take a look at the Hornady Light Magnum ammo with the Interbond bullet 200 FPS faster than most 06 ammo and a pretty good BC to minimize wind drift on longer shots. The 150 Grain is 3100 FPS and the 165 is 3000 fps that gives you a MPBR of 300 yards.

No! If it's not an ultra, weatherby, wildcat,short action, magnum it just doesn't cut it! :D:D:D:D:DSeriously, the odd six has done this efficiently for years and will continue to do so. Right bullet, right load and you're good to go!

I shoot the 180 grain Rem. Swift Scirocco zeroed at 200yds. velocity of 2351 fps. and energy at 2208 ft. lbs. I have not yet lost a deer that I shot with this great load.

My old Bofors Sako doesn't like the new long boat tails ie. accubonds. I went back to my bread and butter....150 gr sierra pro-hunter using 51gr IMR4064 with a MV of 2940. The black tape covers the accubond group.....the Sierra group speaks for itself.

Great caliber and still going strong after over 100 years.

Assuming youdo yourjob properly, the .30/'06 has enough remaining energy to kill a deer out to at least 800, if not 1,000 yards! I am of course, not suggesting that anyone shoot at one that far away.

The old '06 is quite a cartridge, and many of today's magnum fansfail to realize that the differences between their hotties and such old timersas the '06 and .270 Win. only amounts to two or three inches in trajectory at 400 yards, and very little in remaining energy as well.

IF you can put that first round where it needs to be, the '06 will kill any deer, elk or moose that ever walked, and some much bigger critters as well!

Same here. I would even do the cooking.:DSorry, Not the dishes.;)I have to them all the time at home. My wife works and I am retired to she figures the dishes are my job. The cooking too.

In my book, the 30-06 is one of the greatest cartridges of all time......

My Krieghoff 30-06 has takeing a likeing to 200 grain Nosler partitions and that's fine with me!!
