Timney Triggers

Just wondering how hard it is to replace the factory trigger with a Timney on a Rem M-700??? Also what do you think of these triggers for the money???

Piece of cake. All you got to do is remove the two pins that hold the trigger to the receiver and put in the Timney.

For the money they are great triggers and probably the best known trigger made. They aint no Jewel but they aren't designed to be either. They are an excelent aftermarker hunting trigger.

I love them amd have put quite a few in the old military rifles. I have them in my Swedish Mausers right now. I did have to remove a bit of wood inside the stock.

Very easy to install and adjust. All of my mausers except for my MK X has one.

I havefour Timney triggers on Mausers & P14 enfields and really like them for the money. Factory Rem 700 trigger can be adjusted down to 2 1/2 pounds and still be safe. Most Factory 700 triggers can be adjusted to break, with little to no creep and over travel. So unless your going below that 2 1/2 pound mark, I don't see a plus going to a Timney trigger on Rem 700. My 700 have tweaked factory triggers.

I agree. Remington has one of the nicest factory triggers IMHO, and easy to adjust. Not sure why anyone would want to change it. I do understand the reason for putting one on a Mauser and have done that myself. Makes the world of difference in a military rifle.

I have always just adjusted the factory Remington trigger on my 700s also. As someone said, unless you need a break weight below 2.5 lbs (NOT a good idea for hunting purposes, by the way)...then the factory trigger is fine. If you aren't comfortable with doing the trigger adjustments yourself, most gunsmiths will do a Rem. trigger for $25 - $50. Including testing for safety, it's about a 30 minute job. The standard Remington trigger is one of the best on any out-of-the-box rifle.

I have used them on Savage and Ruger and they install easy. As for the 700's, I adjust them down to 2.5 lb. myself...
