RE: Help me spend my money

For the money Ruger puts very nice walnut stocks on their rifles. If you go to a larger sporting goods store you can look threw a few of them and fined aVery nice stock. My Ruger 77s all shoot very well .5"MOA at 100 yards and my friends and brothers shoot .5-1" MOA at 100 yards also. They are only about $460-$530 depending on where you get it.The scope bases are part of the Mauser type reciver and they come with rings too. The only thing you will have to do to it is a trigger job, andit will still be much cheaper than the Browning or Tika, so you can put better optics on it. Here is a picture of my 3 shot group with my 300 WSM (left) and my 3 shot group with my .223 (top right). My brother shot the bottom left group with my .223. Both guns are M77s the 300 I did a trigger job on the factory trigger and the .223 I put a Timney trigger on. Bushenll Elite 4200 scopes have rain guard and let in 95% of available light. I have one and it is awesome.

I went and took a look at sveral rifles today. So far, the Browning Abolt hunter is the top choice. Absolutely beautiful stock on it. They didn't have a medallian though, so I'll have to try and find one to compare. They had the Weatherby, and I didn't really care for it. It is a nice rifle, just not my cup of tea. The Ruger 77 Mark II didn't float my boat either, and I wasn't really impressed with the Tikka. I have a few more I want to look into that were not available today. But thanks for every ones input.

I would also suggest looking at some of the Savage rifles. I hear the Accu-Trigger is very nice.

I might hear a bunch of crud for this but take a look at the Howa brand of rifles. They are built well, have super nice looking stocks and shoot well also. My buddy has one with the heavy barrel and vamint stock in .223 and it shoots great. You could easily get one and mount a Leupold on it for under $800.
