Yes, it will devastate a bird. However, be aware of which birds are legal and which ones are not.

As for brands, the only one I've shot in a long time has been a Gamo. It was a pretty nice pellet gun.

For sure thatll kill a bird, Even a daisy red ryder shooting a bb going about 400 fps would kill a bird. Birds are not so hard to kill. Sqiurrels however are a different story.

what kind of pellet gun is this? and how much are you spending on it? I doubt it really goes as fast as 1000fps but thats still way more than enough to kill a bird.
i think some of you enjoy killing animals a little too much.

well i really dont know a good brand, price would have to be below $100. i'm just trying to get a few birds here and there. also if you are really trying to find out why i want a pellet gun, see my thread in the upland bird forum.

what would be the greatest fps that could kill a bird?

Their are quite a few on the market that hit 1000 fps. Check out air rifles on Cabelas. They have several of them.

I have several pellet rifles, my favorite is an RWS 45. It's worth it to pay more and get a really good pellet rifle, it will probable out last you!!!

I've chronographed mine, and it pushes pellets 950 to 1050 fps depending on how heavy the pellet is.

With a decent hit it easily anchors squirells and rabbits!!
