Scope Covers
 

I have a Simmons 3-9x50 Blazerscope that I am putting on a Winchester 30-30. I have been looking at the Butler Creek Blizzard see-thru scope covers http://www.butlercreek.com/adtemplate.asp?invky=6028498&catky=1150335&amp ;subcatky1=4548832&subcatky2=2000245, and I was wondering if anyone has or now uses them and what you think/thought about them. Do you think that getting both in yellow would help to make the vision sharper?

I use a set on one of my guns and like them. I like them better than the 'bra'.Convenient too, just flip them open.

I laughed at those flip up covers for years, thought they were "to easy and had to be gimmicky". Then when I bought a Swarovski 5 years ago, it came with a set. WOW! Wish I woulda gone too them years ago. I now have them on every single scope I own. Some of them are the Blizzard or see thru type and I actually prefer them as the less exposed too the elements your lenses are the longer the coatings will go without being scratched up (whether we admit it or not, even with proper cleaning, we are mildly scratching the lenses and coatings each and everytime we touch the lenses to clean them).

As for the yellow, I suppose it's a mental block and under hazy or dark timber conditions they do contrast game. But I prefer to stick with clear covers. Unless it's really dark or the weather is perfect and I need a really detailed look, I leave the clear covers down and never flip them up.

I use the butler creek caps exclusivly on all my guns. No problem so far with them.

I have a set of yellow/amber tinted Butler Creek flip ups and feel that the tinting is too dark, even though they do help with contrast in the woods.I always flip the covers up before I shoot because of this.

I guess I should mention that I have clear tint on the objective side and amber tint on the ocular side.If both sides were tinted the brightness wouldsuffer too much to be useful on all but the sunniest days.

Thanks for the info. Jeep 4x4 do you use the see thru type?
I haven't opened my scope up yet, but I know that it does have a yellow cap on the ocular side, and a clear cap on the objective with the elastic strings between them. I just realized that I have one of the set-ups that I was thinking of (witha yellow cap on the ocular side), so I'llprobably try that out first.

i don't have the see through ones but i do have the regular ones and i really like them. it's alot more convenient than having to take off the caps before the hunt and not know what might happen in the mean time.

I notice Butler Creek makes several variations of the Butler Creek Blizzard See-Through Scope Cover's.

They have the #1,#2, #3..and so on. What's the difference between the numbers?

It looks to me that the main difference is the sizes of scopes that they fit, and the colors.
