I live in the Alberta Prairies; we have antelope, whitetail deer, mule deer and 1 ½ hour drive either way we can hunt elk or moose. Here the 270 win is alive and well, I load up 90 gr. for coyotes, 130gr for whitetails and 150gr. for elk. Many shots are out to 300 yds.
The 270 is one of the rifles used here, the 243, 25-06, and the 7mm Remington magnum are also some of top rifles used here now.

Out here in the 'real' west the .270 is very popular. I'd say at least 4 people in our family use one including my wife and it's just fine. Probably that, the 7mm Rem, and 30-06 are the most popular out here with the .300 Win coming in 4th. The hot new WSM and UM rifles are really a hot ticket out here too and I would expect they will just rise in popularity in the future.
