RE: ruger 6mm
I would say this is typical of most big game rifles...some show this worse than others...yours doesn't sound too bad...If you glass bed the action and free float the barrel it MIGHT help...then again it might not...each gun seems to have a mind of its own....If you are using for deer...I'd leave it alone...
Often free floating the barrel helps "center" the group or, if a wooden stock helps keep the groups from moving because of stock warpage etc...but, the group may also open up... |
RE: ruger 6mm
renfro, how long you let the barrel cool?
|
RE: ruger 6mm
about 5 to 10 min and the barrel is cool to the hand

Makes me believe that the third shotis "in your mind". You are aware that it's your third shot, and you probably anticipate that shot. Eye-hand coordination takes practice. As you are letting out a breath of air, slowly pull back on the trigger. Relax and keep practicing. [/align] |
RE: ruger 6mm
I thought it was me I gave it to a buddy of mine to shoot and it did the same thing it has to be the gun?

RE: ruger 6mm
Where do your 4th, 5th, 6th... shots go if you don't let it cool down?
|
RE: ruger 6mm
try two 3 shot groups w/o any cooling period. two seperate targets, see what they do then. Also, trytwo, two shot groups w/o cooling, see what happens. my guess is that its you or the cooling period isnt the same for the shots, the first is out of a ambient barrel, the second has only one shot through it plus cooling time, but the third is following two previous shots so the same cooling time would still produce a much hotter barrel? If none of these posts help you figure it out, just make sure you hit your deer with one of the first two shots:D.
