savage bolts?

are their bolts stainless steel on their stainless steel rifles? i had a blued .270 with a black synthetic stock and the bolt (main shaft) appeared to be chromed and i was wondering if the SS rifles had the same bolt.
thanks.
chuck.

RE: savage bolts?

My Savage 17HMR has a S/S bolt with the S/S barrel and the synthetic stock. I know it’s not a center fire but I would think they would have the S/S bolt.

I have a model 16 s/s .270 wsm. The bolt seems like regular steel to me.

Why don't you ask Savage? Then let us all know what they say. My suspicion is that it is not SS. Chrome/moly or carbon steel is somewhat harder than SS but more prone to oxidation.
