In addition to the two you noted, you can get a 25-06 from most any of the major makers including Remington, Ruger, Sako, etc.
There's the Remington 700CDL which comes with a 26" barrel.
I'd go with a Ruger bolt action, which I think comes with a 24" tube. I know here locally I can get the Ruger for approx. $525-$550. Rings are included, and no bases needed. Add a trigger job for about $40 (if needed), and you're set.

It all depends on what you want. Here are a few I would choose from.

$657 Ruger #1B 25-06 26" barrel

$687 Ruger #1 25-06 26" barrel

$569 Remington 700CDL DLX 25-06 24" barrel

$749 Tikka T3 Stainless 25-06 22 7/16" barrel

Good luck.

that .25 wssm sure its short action if that matters to you but according to exterior ballistics the 25-06 is superior to the wssm cartridge and after shooting the two I cannot tell a darn difference between the two except for the cost of ammo, 25-06 is quite a bit cheaper.

Ive been a remington person for along time and will say you couldnt go wrong with a remington but you should give that tikka a gander those are a darn nice rifle. I dont know where Longrifle got his prices but in most gun stores you can get that tikka in blued and with a laminate stock for around or a bit under the cost of a remington CDL, im guessing longrifles pic is the stainless/laminate tikka?? just remember in the end your choice needs to be what you want not what everyone else says to get.... good luck

I have the Ruger with the 24 inch barrel. In the 25 caliber the 25-06 will out perform all but the 257 Weatherby. The 25 WSSM can't match the 25-06. I like the Ruger but it did need a trigger job. That added 45.00 to the cost but I got mine for 349.00 new. It had set in the store for a couple years so the offered me a pretty good deal.

I have an older style tang safety Ruger in 25.06 I am quite pleased with. No experience with the newer Mark II they now market but have heard some do not like the triggers from the factory.

Good Luck

It is the stainless/laminate. I got the prices off of Gunsamerica. They had two of them on their, both the same price. But they are usually inflated a bit. But, it is closer than MSRP.

Just been through the same dilema "which 25-06 to purchase"Seriously considered the Ruger No. 1,Wanted A Sako or Tikka but the 22 7/16" barrel was a draw back for me.Finally settled on a Savage 110 FP.Has a 24" barrel ,adjustable accu trigger and price was right.Only draw back for me was the ugly factory plastic stock,so I ordered a Bell and Carlson after market "drop in" with pillars in Olive with black spider web.

I have owned/own several 25-06's.My first was a mkI ruger withe med-sporter barrel 26" and that gun was a shooter, traded it for some POS Marlin 450.
But since that I have owned 6 others,Tikka,Ruger,Remington and Winchester.
By far I liked the Ruger-#1 and Tikka's,for accuracy and triggers the Winchesters in the Sporter LT have been good guns.
I do like the looks of the Rem CDL,but I'm toying with the idea of buying one of those new Steven Mdl 200 in 25-06 just to try heck @ 279 bucks what can go wrong.
For under 750 I would co with Tikka or the Ruger #1

I would get a Ruger 77 Mk II. They are about $450 at walmart and they come with rings and have the intrical bases (one of the best systems out there). You will most likely need a trigger job but it will still total farless than $750. Ruger makes a great gun and in my experience with mine and my friends they are all very accurate 1" or less at 100 yards.

Here is a picture of my Ruger 300 WSM group

In his intial post, he states that he does not like Savage. Why should he buy something he does not like? If he can afford it, so be it.
