I think that someone said the 6mm Rem was built off the 308. If thats what was said it is incorrect, the 6mm REM. was made from the 7x57mm necked down and the shoulder angle changed by 5degrees.

Doesn't that make the 6mm the better round, if you are reloading? Your thoughts?

The 6mm reloaded will nock the panties off the .243.
The only reason the 6mm isn't as popular than the .243 is Remington and their marketing.

BBJ - is absolutely right. The 244(6mm) was marketed as a"VARMIT ONLY" caliber and the barrels had a twist rate that wouldnt stabilize the bigger bullets used for deer, while winchester's 243 had a twist rate that was conducive to both varmit and deer bullets. By the time remington fixed the situation the 243 had such a lead that the 6mm couldnt make up the ground. and he's also right, the 6mm is much better than the 243 when handloaded and a 26 inch barrel is used.
