safety glasses while shooting?

I was talking with some friends and they say they use safety glasses while shooting their guns at targets. The reason is in case of powder burn. Ihave neverwore safety glasses. Does anyone elsewear safety glasses?

When I was shooting trap, I wore orange colored shooting glasses that made the target show up better agains the background (and because they were required ;)). As far as on the rifle range, I never have worn or ever willwear shooting glasses. Just something about 'em makes me change my cheek to stock position enough that it feels funny. Just my .02..

Yes of course, and hearing protection.

Absolutely wear them. One might fire a 1/4 million shots before eye protection comes into play, but if the glasses aren't on during that shot, you lose your eyes.
I've had a casehead failure with a pistol where burning powder and slivers of brass hit my face, and I've had a pierced primer once shooting a rifle where I had some hot gas hit my face. I'Ve also been hit in the face with clay chips while shooting sporting clays In the first instance I'm 100% sure that the glasses saved my eyesight, in the other 2 instances, the glasses sure didn't hurt.

Our club has a rule that you can not shoot on any of the ranges without eye and hearing protection. Period. Think of it this way, if you loose your eyes, you're done hunting....forever. Why take the chance?

especially with pistol. I have seen powder and stuff come out the revolver on my hands. Don't want it in my eyes.

Just last weekend I had a .45 brass hit in my shooting glasses. If I didn't had my glasses on, I will be watching my computer screen in 2D right now.

Better to have them on and not need them, than need them and not have them.....

Besides, safety glasses and hearing protection is a must in almost all shooting ranges, and without them you will not be permitted to shoot......
