Stevens Model 200???

I was actually discusing in another post about what second rifle to get for not much denaro and I ended up thinking a NEF single would be just the thing for this itch for a new rifle. I headed into the sportmans wharehouse to put my hands on one and the fella said that of I added 30 bucks to that 219 price tag, I could get a stevens bolt. He didnt have any to look at but He seemed to be all about it. He said it is a dang site better than the mossberg ATR or the Remington 710. He said it is real accureate for the money and promises to last. Any one want to ring in on this one?
I was thikin about the 25-06. EJ

I haven't read anything negative about them. Haven't held one or looked at it except in a picture but the rteviews so far are ok. The price is more than reasonable for a utilitarian gun. And it comes in short and long.

The Stevens is the same as the other Savage rifles except it doesn't come with the Accu-Trigger.

Outdoor life Magazine gave it the highest rating ever to a rifle. I read the review last month. They said it was the kind of quality they have come to expect from Savage.

These things are gaining popularity. The price went up to 259 at the sportsmans wharehouse. I tell ya, I wouldnt mind diving into one, but I just got the NEF .243two weeks ago and the funds are thin. But, another option might be the savage, I found one for 299 (wood stock even) at gander mountain. I will be looking for a 7mm Mag. Good luck, hope you get one! Let me know how it shoots! EJ

Savage is making a entry level bolt rifle with an even lower price than there standard rifle?? Wow!!! Now that is value.

They are still the ugliest rifle'son the market but I might buy one at that price.Anyone know if a Timney trigger for the 110 will work on the 200. They appear to be the same action but I know things are not always as they appear.

If you believe Outdoor Life you shouldn't need a Timney trigger. They said that the trigger was great, breaking at 2 1/2 lbs! It would be interesting to see if that is consistent with all of them.
