TC ammo choices for deer
I am putting together a gun for my wife to hunt deer. I am using my TC Contender and making it into a carbine... Anyway I thought you guys might have some ideas on which cartridge would be the best for white tails...
Here are my choices. 7-30 waters 6mm TCU 6.5mm TCU 7mm TCU Any opinions/comments/experience with these rounds? I am probably leaning towards the 7-30 waters, just because I am a little familiar with it. Thanks! |
RE: TC ammo choices for deer
Of the rounds you have listed the 7-30 is the best choice .
It should have mininal recoil and with proper ammo or reloads it should be 150 + yard rifle. Federal still lists a factory round . Several freinds load the 120 and 140 gr Nosler balistic tips in their TC pistols and carbines for deer. Johnch |

another vote for the 7-30.

The 7-30 Waters is a good one. The 30-30 is also available in the carbine. Fox Ridge outfitters has many more options as well.

I have always read good things bout the Waters. Although James would tell ya the 243 is the best all around rifle in the universe!! :D j/k

RE: TC ammo choices for deer
any of you guys have any of the realoading data for the 6,6.5,7mm TCU? What bullet weights.
I agree about the .243 but want to try something different. Plus these will have less recoil. Also what is the new 6.5 remington cartridge based on? |
